rebels_7“Vril Dox is the man!”

I have know idea why I’ve waited seven issues to review this title.  I guess I’ve been busy looking at all the big things going on in Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Flash, etc… and have neglected this title.  But no more!  Its time I give this title its do.  If you like space action, the Legion of Super-Heroes, L.E.G.I.O.N., or just a really great written and drawn book, then look no further.

The ongoing story concerns the classic J.L.A. villain Starro’s bid for universal control and the megalomaniac(And son of Brainiac) Vril Dox’s and his team of rebels opposing him(Or is Starro an it?).  The story is sharp with lots of nods and tie ins to past things in the D.C. Universe but not enough to shut-out new readers.  The story flows, has a purpose but still greatly entertains while its doing it.  All the secondary characters are great, the guest appearances of characters is like a who’s who of the D.C. Universe.  This issue alone saw the appearance of Despero, Kanjar Ro,Sardath and Scar the renegade Guardian of the universe!

Writer Tony Bedard and artist Andy Clarke have been down right awesome and have made this title go to the top of my very large reading list.  I would put this book on par with Secret Six and Captain America as one of my favorite titles!
